Many of these diets can affect your health, cause physical discomfort (abdominal discomfort and flatulence). A big disappointment follows when you regain weight soon after you lose it.

Don't do a crash diet for more than 3 to 7 days. Most of these diets are not meant to be kept for extended periods of time. They aren't balanced and not meant to be your permanent way of eating.

Why are crash diets harmful?

Harm is done by overemphasis on one particular food or type of food, which violates the first principle of good nutrition: Diet should be balanced and include a variety of foods.
